Research Summary

Professor Trout directs two major projects focusing on pharmaceuticals. The Novartis-MIT Center for Continuous Manufacturing is a bold new initiative to transform pharmaceutical manufacturing. The Singapore-MIT Alliance Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering is an exciting educational and research initiative which give students the opportunity to study both at MIT and in Singapore and perform cutting-edge research in a variety of areas.

Most of his research is industrially funded, since he aims towards new technology development. Current and past partners, include, Amgen, DuPont, EniTecnologie, Ford Motor Company, Merck & Company, Inc., Novartis, and others. Governmental sponsors include the NSF, NIH, DOE, and the Government of Singapore.

Professor Trout also consults for major pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and chemical companies.
