Project Start Date July 2023

The Cosmic Dawn Group at MIT is led by Anna-Christina Eilers. The Lab is part of MIT's Physics Department and the Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research. The Cosmic Dawn Group studies how the first galaxies, quasars, and supermassive black holes form in the very early universe and evolve accross cosmic time by using a combination of multi-wavelength observations from telescopes around the world and in space, cosmological simulations, as well as new machine learning models.

Some of the projects currently featured in the Lab are :
(*) Observing Ionized Nebulae around Quasars with JWST
(*) Machine Learning Models for Quasars
(*) The Growth of Supermassive Black Holes
(*) The Epoch of Reionization
(*) A Legacy Sample of High-Redshift Quasars
(*) The Structure of our Milky Way

The Lab seeks to understand the formation of the first galaxies, quasars and supermassive black holes in the early universe.
