Research Summary
Professor Zidani has written journal articles and book chapters about online culture mixing, Arab and Chinese media politics, and critical transnational pedagogy, which were published in venues such as: Social Media + Society; Asian Communication Research; Media, Culture & Society; International Journal of Communication, NYU Press, and others. She is also a co-editor for the forthcoming anthology, The Intersectional Internet II: Power, Politics and Resistance Online (Fall 2023).
In her teaching, Zidani uses critical pedagogies to guide students to think critically about the power dynamics involved in different media issues.
Outside of the academy, Professor Zidani is also a publicly-engaged educator. Her public writing on popular culture and politics has appeared in Arabic and Anglophone publications like Mada Masr. As a contributing facilitator at Seachange Collective, where she lead workshops on anti-oppression and justice-driven facilitation for organizations such as NowThis, Gimlet Media, The Onion, and The Writers Guild of America.
