The agenda is to design network control algorithms and economic incentive schemes that help infrastructure users and operators make better decisions in the face of uncertainties, both random and adversarial. The technical approach is to (i) model the cyber-physical interactions in infrastructures and assess their vulnerabilities; (ii) develop tools to detect and respond to both local and network-level failures; and (iii) design incentive schemes that improve the aggregate levels of public good (specifically, network decongestion and security), while accounting for the interdependencies and private information among strategic entities. This approach builds on fundamental methods in control and decision theory, optimization, game theory, and information economics.
