ta centers around the globe contain terabytes of data necessary for large enterprises to function efficiently. The data resides in both Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems. The conflicting goal is to have data available locally (in the nearest data center) while at the same time making sure this data is the most up-to-date available. We are building a simulator to test out the feasibility of reducing the number of data centers a company needs by locating synchronization information at a single data center. The simulator is based on MIT technology developed for simulating supply chains with billions of events occurring every day.
