The stress-strain curve of a cellular solid has three characteristic regimes: linear elasticity, a stress plateau and densification. Each regime corresponds to a particular mechanism of deformation or failure. Models use dimensional analysis to model the deformation and failure mechanisms to give equations describing the mechanical properties of cellular solids.
