The Public Disputes Program (PDP), in conjunction with the Consensus Building Institute (CBI), continues to explore ways of addressing the claims and concerns of indigenous peoples around the world, particularly with regard to self-government. What rules ought to govern the interaction among quasi-autonomous peoples living together in a democratic state? And, in advanced western democracies, how can the tools of consensus building be used to deepen and improve the quality of democratic discourse?
