Computer Graphics Group (CGG)

Principal Investigator Fredo Durand

Co-investigator Wojciech Matusik

The Computer Graphics Group (CGG) is based within the Laboratory for Computer Science. The graphics group develops techniques for rapid, high-fidelity capture, visualization, manipulation, and simulation of human-scale artifacts and environments. Research topics have found common grounding in both the Design Technology Group and Building Technology Program within the Department of Architecture. Research involves the development of computer graphics algorithms and interactive techniques in the service of difficult visualization problems arising in architecture and related design settings. Current projects focusing on these problems include include modeling and rendering of weathered materials and surface appearance, image based modeling and editing, high-performance visualization of urban scenes, acoustic design and modeling, and interactive, high-fidelity rendering.

CCG currently houses several research groups and projects working on the latest graphics technology. Each begins with an idea and explodes into a full-scale project demanding hard work. Each project begins with an idea and explodes into a full-scale project demanding hard work.
