Dr. Heimbach's research interests include modeling of the ocean, sea ice, and ice sheets; inverse modeling, data assimilation and state estimation; ocean and climate variability with emphasis on the Arctic and the North Atlantic subpolar gyre; evolution of the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets; ice sheet-ocean interactions
