Research Summary
The Sikes lab engineers proteins and polymers and projects that we choose to work on all have the long term goal of improving human health. Several projects in the lab are focused on quantitative detection of biological molecules (proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, sugars) in bodily fluids (blood, urine, biopsy samples). Currently targeted diseases include cancers of various tissues, malaria, and tuberculosis but the techniques we develop and use are readily generalizable.
