Disciplined Corporate Entrepreneurship: Enabling the creation of new ventures in existing organizations

Building a successful new venture within an existing organization is not easy. Organizations become successful by building optimized, repeatable businesses. Entrepreneurial ventures, on the other hand, require an iterative, experimental mindset, and a completely different set of skills. In this talk, we will explore how leaders can help make their organizations more entrepreneurial via the Disciplined Corporate Entrepreneurship framework. There are three parts to this framework: Strategy, Enablement, and Practice. We will discuss how C-level executives make decisions to invest in innovation, how leaders of innovation labs and initiatives can select and deploy enablement tools, and how corporate entrepreneurs can leverage organizational and entrepreneurial skills to generate net new business value and build successful ventures.

Cyber Resilience: Thriving in the Age of GenAI-Driven Threats
    Keri Pearlson
Executive Director of CAMS (Cybersecurity at MIT Sloan), MIT Sloan School of Management

The bad guys are relentless, armed with cutting-edge GenAI, trickier phishing schemes, and new attack vectors. Brace yourself for a wild ride where traditional protection takes a backseat, and cyber resilience steals the spotlight. No more waiting for breaches to happen – it’s time to take charge. From the desk jockeys to the big shots, everyone must be on the cyber resilience squad. Don’t just survive, use this opportunity to thrive in the chaos of cyber threats because, in this digital jungle, resilience isn’t an option; it’s the only way to play the game.

    Digitally Empower the World's Workers

Jobcase, an MIT CSAIL-affiliated startup, empowers 100 million of the US working class. Applying data analysis and optimized outreach, they connect workers to jobs in trucking, warehouse, customer care, and more. The average worker today holds much anxiety surrounding economic conditions and technological changes, e.g. AI and automation. They need more than just job opportunities, and now seek knowledge and advice from an online community of like-minded workers in our increasing gig economy to succeed. Blue- and pink-collar workers often do not know how to address their concerns within the workplace or how to transition into different positions without having to start from the bottom again. Having tools that can reach workers from the top-down and that allow them to connect with each other is essential to empowering the worker and ultimately fuel an ambitious future workforce.

    Water and Industry @MIT

    Tue, April 6, 2021 Webinar
    Leading Edge Webinar

Water is a vital resource – for society and also for many industrial processes.  There are increasingly complex challenges in this sector: detecting and addressing contaminents, wastewater treatment, valuing and monetizing water and managing water-intensive operations to name a few.

Also, like much of our industrial infrastructure there is a pressing need to modernize, digitize and optimize equipment, plant and systems.  Here we will present new MIT research, technologies and spinoff companies for sensing, treatment processes, remote monitoring and digitalization.  We will be joined by industry leaders who will discuss and share their innovations and experiences with new technology – insights that are transferrable to other large industrial and infrastructure sectors.
