Mary Ellen Gearin

Mary Ellen Gearin joined the Office of Corporate Relations (OCR) on December 2, 2013 as Director of Finance and Operations. Gearin is a very experienced MIT finance professional, with many years of SAP experience, as well as deep expertise in financial operations, budget analysis, reporting and strategic planning.

Gearin comes to OCR from the Office of the General Counsel, where she worked for three years as Business Manager and Administrative Officer managing all financial and other administrative operations of the department. Before that, she worked in IS&T as financial Business Systems Analyst. In this role, she supported central VPF business offices with existing system capabilities and led projects implementing new functionality and reliability to benefit users throughout the Institute. Gearin's first position at MIT was as Financial Officer with the Alumni Association from 1996 to 2004, so she has that important "west end of campus" experience, too.

Ms. Gearin received her B.A., Economics from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, M.A., and her M.B.A., Non-Profit Management, from Boston University School of Management.
