Building the next generation of medical imaging tools will require interdisciplinary expertise, spanning engineering, AI, medicine and biology. The MIT Medical Imaging Initiative brings together a community of researchers across these domains to build and accelerate the launch of the next generation of medical imaging technologies. We also serve as a linking point with hospitals and industry to enable transfer of new technologies to real-world healthcare applications.
In 2025 four inaugural next-generation medical imaging fellowships to MIT Ph.D. students leading collaborative, interdisciplinary research on biomedical imaging were awarded. Fellowships are awarded to MIT PhD students or postdocs who are working collaboratively with two PIs, to strengthen collaborative efforts in medical imaging.
