Research Summary

Dr. Prashanth's research vision is to help create a vibrant and inclusive aviation system having near-zero environmental impact. He works in the intersection of technolgy and policy to enable such a near-zero impact system. The growing environmental impact of aviation poses an existential challenge for the sector, especially since other sectors have clear paths to decarbonise. Prashanth believes that an aviation industry with near-zero environmental impact is not only feasible but essential to ensure the sustained growth of aviation’s societal and economic benefits.

Research interests are in the areas of advanced propulsion systems, aircraft-propulsion integration, emissions control technology for gas turbine engines to develop systems level solutions to aviation environmental impacts. Prashanth teaches undergraduate course on aerospace propulsion and a graduate level course on aviation environmental impacts.
