Project Start Date March 2024

Materials, including polymers, consumer products, construction, and chemicals, are central to our economy. Advances in automation and machine learning promise to accelerate materials innovation, but they require us to have efficient systems for working with the ever-increasing volumes of data generated.  The Community Resource for Innovation in Polymer Technology (CRIPT)’s mission is to accelerate innovation in materials by enabling researchers to overcome inefficiencies in how they find, share, and analyze data.

CRIPT is a data ecosystem that makes polymer and materials data widely available and easily discoverable.  It provides users with key tools for indexing and searching data, collaborating in cloud-based ecosystems on research projects, and advancing your data-driven and machine learning workflows.  CRIPT project was funded by the NSF and we’re now transitioning to an industrial consortium to further develop CRIPT tools to meet industry needs and will provide training in their use to help members maximize their productivity.

Key CRIPT Features
* Seamless Data Integration and Scalable Data Storage.
* New Search technologies including BigSMARTS and Similarity score algorithms.
* User Friendly Interface and Interactive Data Visualization.
* Seamless Collaboration and Access Control.
* Access to BigSMILES informatic tools.

Key benefits for each tier include access to all of the features of the CRIPT ecosystem for five (explorer) or 20 (collaborator) users, regular software, updates, newsletters, and invitations to annual trainings and symposiums.  The collaborator tier includes a seat on the scientific advisory board that helps direct development priorities, the option to use CRIPT for R&D projects, and monthly progress reports.

The vision is establish a digital ecosystem of openly available polymer data and supporting tools, so that polymer scientists and engineers everywhere can leverage high-quality information and streamlined data workflows in the pursuit of constant innovation.
