MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative (SSI)

Sustainability is not just about the environment. It is the crucial harmony between healthy environments, thriving communities, and ethical businesses + institutions, all working together to create equitable economies that fulfill human needs.

The team is working hard to be a leading voice in sustainable business and policy, with a mission to provide the best education, apply academic rigor to real world problems, and empower leaders everywhere to take action so humans and nature can thrive. Housed at the MIT Sloan School of Management, the Initiative is deeply committed to advancing systems change for an equitable and sustainable world.

Whether it’s through interactive climate simulations or a more effective way to measure environmental, social, and governmental performance, our faculty and researches are leveraging their academic rigor to solve real-world problems.

The Sustainability Initiative builds on world-class teaching, research, and engagement  by faculty across MIT. These scholars propel innovation in products and services, management practices, business models, market infrastructures and institutions, and public policy.
