Dr. Paloma Gonzalez-Rojas

Postdoctoral Fellow
Founder & CEO, Atacama Biomaterials
MIT Room: NE36-TBD

Research Summary

Is a Machine Learning expert developer, applied to Material Science at Atacama. Paloma Gonzalez-Rojas's doctoral work at MIT included extensive study of machine learning tools for data science, prediction, and sequence decision-making. In parallel, she became a Material Scientist by practice because of her eagerness to create renewable materials. Further, her current postdoctoral research at Greg's Rutledge lab at MIT ChemE directly benefits Atacama's material and computational development, consisting of predicting biopolymer properties and producing manufacturing-ready formulas, supported by the MIT Climate and Sustainability Consortium (MCSC). Before Atacama and MIT, Paloma worked in construction, overseeing the reconstruction of Chile's second biggest stadium (Estadio Monumental), gaining experience in management. She strengthened her business skills through MIT and Harvard accelerators to disrupt the materials market. Paloma's persistence, willingness to take risks, and determination make her exceptionally qualified to be Atacama's Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
