Research Summary
Professor Alvarez-Gavela's research is in symplectic and contact topology. He is particularly interested in the flexible side of the field as well as in the connections with parametrized Morse theory, algebraic K-theory and singularity theory.
Last spring, Alvarez-Gavela was teaching Introduction to Topology. He organizes the Boston Informal Symplectic Seminar and co-organizes the MIT Geometry and Topology Seminar.
