Research Summary

Professor McRose's research group is interested in understanding the ways microbially-mediated chemical and biological transformations in soils and sediments affect nutrient cycling and plant growth. Focus is specifically on the chemical tools or “secondary metabolites” that microbes use to navigate and alter their environment. Work incorporates bacterial physiology, genetics, and genomics as well as mass spectrometry and other geochemical measurements.
