Dumo Lab

DumoLab is an emerging architecture, engineering and research studio founded in Barcelona, Spain and currently based in Cambridge, USA. We focus on developing digital environments, novel manufacturing techniques, and explorative material practices. Our projects and tools target: creative data applications in architecture, advanced robotic fabrication, programming of design environments, and more efficient material systems for an architecture consistent with our time.

We have studied and researched at the Design Computation Group and the Mediated Matter Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology MIT in Cambridge (USA), the CODA-LITA Group at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia UPC-ETSAV in Barcelona (SP), and Schools of Architecture and Fine Arts ENSBA ENSAPM ENSAPV in Paris (FR). We have been awarded public and private grants and awards and are currently performing interdisciplinary research at the intersection of Computation, Material Science, Architecture, and Mechanical Engineering.

Personal and team-based work has been exhibited at the MIT Museum in 2015, the MIT MediaLab in 2014, the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University in 2014, the Lisbon Architecture Triennial 2013, the Istanbul Design Biennial 2012, the Pompidou Center in Paris as part of Advances in Architectural Geometry Exhibit 2012, the Elisava School of Design 2010, and the WAF World Architecture Festival in Barcelona 2009.
