Amphibian: Terrestrial Scuba Diving Using Virtual Reality

Oceans are home to more biodiversity than anywhere else on this planet. Scuba diving as a sport has helped us explore beautiful corals, striking fishes, and magnificent wrecks. However, ocean diving is mentally and physically challenging. Efforts in research literature have virtually simulated maritime scenes in comfortable environments. Most of these simulations are only virtual projections on a computer screen or enclosed walls, so a realistic feeling of diving is never achieved. Few systems, however realistic, require people to swim in a pool or tank, which is cumbersome and tedious. Amphibian is a virtual reality system that allows the user to experience the ocean environment in a convenient terrestrial setting.
