Electrolytic Steelmaking as a Paragon for New Electrolytic Processes Development

Thanks to the ubiquity of electrolysis, part of Allanore's research effort has been dedictated to the understanding of metals (aluminum, copper, zinc, nickel) or chemicals (chlor-alkali, hydrogen) electrochemical production methods. However, and because steel is one of the most common material in the world, produced since millenaries, this presentation emphasizes the research conducted on electrolytic steelmaking. From a history of science standpoint, it is also interesting to focus on iron because contrary to most other metals, it has not been produced by electrolysis.
