Empowering Caregivers Through Technology

For many, caregiving for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia is an emotionally and physically demanding job. Can technology enhance quality of life and relieve burden for people with dementia and their caregivers? The AgeLab conducts in depth interview of loved ones with Alzheimer’s and dementia to gain an understanding of whether certain technologies, such as Paro, a therapeutic robotic seal, are perceived as useful to caregivers. Further, we seek to identify whether caregivers would consider integrating these assistive technologies into their lives.
