Urban Canyon Air Flow, Mixing and Transport Modeling

This project will focus on measurements and modeling of the interconnected flows of energy (convective and radiative) between the built and natural environments. Research will be carried out in two main areas: 1) large eddy simulation of the urban canyon environment including physical and thermodynamic interactions with buildings and urban landuse, 2) radiometric and photometric measurements. The project will include modeling of urban heat island effects, accounting for conduction, convective and radiative heat fluxes from buildings, urban airflows, and evapotranspiration from plants.
