Making Lean Thinking Part of the DNA of Engineering Program Management

Large-scale, complex engineering systems can produce tremendous societal benefits such as hybrid cars, road networks, GPS navigation, space travel, and smart cities. Managing these large-scale engineering programs is one of the most difficult, risky, and potentially rewarding undertakings an organization can attempt.

CEPE researchers apply lean methodologies to program systems and management for the benefit of industry partners and government stakeholders. This project is a collaboration between the Project Management Institute (PMI), the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE), and MIT to improve engineering program management capabilities, technologies, products, and systems.
