Operando Spectroscopy

Principal Investigator William Tisdale

Co-investigator Yuriy Román

Industrially relevant chemical processes usually occur at elevated temperatures and pressures. Consequently, there is often a disconnect between laboratory studies of chemical reactions under idealized conditions and those that occur in the “real world.” In collaboration with the Roman group, we are developing highly integrated tools for the investigation of catalytic transformations under native reaction conditions. Using real time three dimensional spectroscopic imaging, we hope to address such topics as the mechanisms of biorenewable energy conversion and the distribution of reactive sites in porous catalytic solids.
