Layer-by-Layer Solid-State Electrolyte for Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

Principal Investigator Paula Hammond

The focus of research on dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) has shifted recently from those based on liquid electrolytes to solid-state cells, because of the technological problems associated with the liquid electrolytes. My project will focus on using layer by layer (LbL) self-assembly method to deposit oppositely charged polyelectrolytes to form a viable solid-state alternative to liquid electrolytes for photovoltaic applications in a DSSC architecture.
