Workplace Safety Program (WSP)

Principal Investigator Louis DiBerardinis

Working with MIT's departments, laboratories, and centers (DLCs), we assess hazards in many areas of activity -- from general safety (electrical equipment, fire and explosives safety, construction safety), to working with potentially hazardous materials (radioactive, biological, chemical), to assistance in designing research protocols and work routines that minimize the risk of injury.

Drawing on the collective expertise of the MIT community, we recommend controls that minimize risk for individuals and the environment while also supporting the achievement of primary objectives for research and academic activities. Controls may include changes in work practices, use of personal protective equipment, or the adoption of engineering controls.
