Turitsyn Research Group

Principal Investigator Konstantin Turitsyn

Research group led by Konstantin (Kostya) Turitsyn studies dynamic behavior of complex systems that are far from equilibrium. Many natural and artificial systems experience non-trivial dynamics that is result of nonlinear interactions of multiple individual components. When the size and complexity of the system are overwhelming, statistical approaches are necessary for the description of its dynamics. Understanding how the properties of individual components affect the behavior of the whole system, and how one can design and control such systems is one of the major challenges, that the science and engineering communities face this day. The group develops theoretical models of these systems and studies them using a wide variety of analytic and computational approaches originating from the fields of nonlinear dynamics and statistical physics. We apply our ideas to a wide range of problems, arising from different research areas: statistical hydrodynamics; energy systems; communication technology and others.
