High-Throughput Tools for Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing


This project seeks to develop a high-throughput cell culture platform for rapid, efficient manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals. A microbioreactor platform for mammalian cell culture will be optimized and validated. An advanced microbioreactor platform that supports in situ, high-resolution microscopy within the scale-down bioreactor will be developed for product quality optimization. Additionally, real-time, in situ measurements of metabolites will be explored using microRaman spectroscopy. The resulting system will have the ability to control and test a wide range of process parameters that effect product quality. A validated scale-down model with the ability to perform single-cell analysis in situ provides a bridge between all the scales relevant to the manufacture of safe and effective biopharmaceuticals.
