Prehealth Advising

MIT's strength in the sciences makes it an excellent starting point for a career in the health professions. Students may apply from many MIT majors (not just Biology) is Biological Engineering, Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Humanities, Management, Mechanical Engineering and Physics.

The Preprofessional Advising staff works with students interested in applying to medical, dental, and other health related professional schools, as well as those interested in applying to law school.

The Prehealth Staff can also help with many different issues:
(*) Match a person with a Prehealth Advisor
(*) Maintain a Credential Service
(*) Provide Individual Counseling
(*) Conduct Mock Interviews
(*) Service Drop-In Hours
(*) Present Workshops on Topics of interest
(*) Plan Special Prehealth Events
(*) Provide Personal Statement and Essay Critiques
(*) Offer Prehealth Advising Resources
(*) Post updates to the Prehealth Email listsev and MIT Prehealth Twitter Account

The Prehealth Advisory Board is comprised of the Prehealth Advising staff in Global Education and Career Development (GECD), MIT faculty, alumni and local area health care practitioners. The role of the Prehealth Advisory Board is to advise/mentor MIT applicants to health profession schools and write the official MIT Prehealth Advisory Board Letter of recommendation to accompany the students/alums application to a health profession school.
