This work studies domain wall motion induced by magnetic spin-waves, both theoretically and experimentally. It is found that, dependent on their relative orientation, two domain walls injected into a straight magnetic nanowire under applied field may annihilate, resulting in the generation of an intense spin-wave burst. Because the applied magnetic fields are smaller than the Walker breakdown field, this presents an extremely low energy means of generating and controlling spin waves for engineering applications. These spin-waves can then be used to manipulated domain walls, and we are investigating the use of these bursts to move domain walls pinned at notches in magnetic stripes.
