The separation of twoplates with a thin layer of a viscoelastic liquid between them can leadto complex instabilities. The experiment shown was done using a polystyreneBoger fluid ('SM3') at De=43.4. The endplate diameter is 5mm and the initialendplate separation is 0.1mm.
