PortaTherm

Principal Investigator Amy Smith

PortaTherm is a portable incubator designed to be lightweight, affordable, and used when electricity is unavailable and unrelieable.

PortaTherm keeps samples at body temperature for 24 hours without ever requiring electricity. It has been trialled extensively for water quality testing in developing countries, but has great potential in other microbiological applications.

PortaTherm was invented by Amy Smith in the mid 90s. Since then numerous people have kindly given their time and energies to push this project forward.
