Hamlets Prototype Performance Archive

Principal Investigator Janet Sonenberg

Project Website http://web.mit.edu/hamlets/

Once a theatrical production ends its run, there is no way it can be studied but through records (video recordings of the performance, production notes). The Royal Shakespeare Company Performance Archive is designed to address this problem. It will be a resource for anyone interested in theatre, scholars, students, actors, directors, designers and craftsmen.

The Archive's purpose is to leave a record of a theatrical production and to document the process that leads from the page to the stage. The Archive will document the following types of media:
(*) The texts, and different versions
(*) Recordings of the Performance and Rehearsals
(*) Stills
(*) Interviews with people involved in the production (director, actors, designers...)
(*) Designs, plans, records of techniques and crafts used
(*) Reviews
