The Environmentally Benign Manufacturing (EBM) research group is part of the Laboratory for Manufacturing and Productivity (LMP) and the Mechanical Engineering Department at MIT. The EBM group is focused on examining the environmental effects associated with manufacturing and products. Research areas include: the thermodynamic, economic, and life cycle assessment of manufacturing processes and systems, products and recycling systems. Additional work looks at the environmental effects from the consumption side of the issue.
