Nanotechnology in Bio-Engineering

This project will study:
(1) Novel microscopy instrumentation and their application to biomedical problems;

(2) Understanding of structure/function of single proteins, non-invasive methods to detect skin cancer
Nanoscale interfaces to biological molecules
Control of activity of DNA and proteins by an attached nanoparticle; and

(3) Inner-workings of proteins, enzymes and biology motors, using instrumentation that combines optical tweezers, single molecule fluorescence and pulsed spectroscopy
Developing molecular description of structural, mechanical, dynamic and energetic induced motions.
