Global Seismology Laboratory (GSL)

Principal Investigator Robert van der Hilst

The Global Seismology Laboratory is a research group in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences at MIT. In this group, we conduct basic as well as practical researches that encompass most fields in structural and earthquake seismology. We are also interested in studying the physical and chemical properties of the Earth's interior and understanding the geodynamical processes in which our planet evolves. In pursuing these studies, our group members are able to take advantage of the wide range of research works done by local creative talents through constant interactions with people in the Geodynamics Group, the Planetary Dynamics Group, the Earth Resources Laboratory, and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
