CEDAR Optics Facility

The Optics Facility at the Millstone Hill Observatory (MHO) is located on a hill approximately one mile southeast of the Millstone Hill Incoherent Scatter Radar. The hill is primarily used for optical instrumentation and some passive radio wave sensors. It is shared with an astronomical teaching facility.

The Optics Building itself is a 20 x 40 foot building with ports in the roof to accomodate optical instruments. Several instruments are housed there at any given time and roof ports are available for visiting instruments. Larger instruments can be parked in the cleared area next to the building. The field of view from the building extends to 70 degrees zenith angle. Seeing is generally good although some scattered light from Boston and nearby cities is visible to the East and South.
