Research Summary

Girod's focus is distributed, embedded sensor networks, with applications to:

(*) plant and infrastructure monitoring,
(*) environmental monitoring,
(*) scientific sensing (bioacoustics, seismic, etc),
(*) homeland security applications (voice, video streams),
(*) vehicle telematics and telemetry,
(*) large scale sensor data processing and fusion, etc.

The research currently has funded projects doing vehicle telematics (Cartel), bioacoustic scientific sensing (VoxNet), large scale sensor processing (XStream), water pipeline monitoring (Wavescope), and we are generally interested in other applications as well.
